When I found out earlier today, it put me in the best mood! This signing has energized a fan base in hours, I saw on Twitter that the Cougar Athletic Fund website was overloaded. Has that ever happened? Best of all this has UW saying shivermetimbers with the thought of the Pirate commanding the troops on the sidelines of Wazzu!
Moos has been in contact with Leach since mid November just in case Wazzu crashed and burned down the stretch. Well we did and Moos wanted the pirate and only him. Well he got his man. While we are going to be spending somewhere in the range of $2.25 to $2.5 million per year, you gotta spend money to make money. Moos is changing the culture and Leach is just the person to take it to the next level after Wulff's foundation. Leach is a great fit at WSU for the following reasons.
He is an offensive genius who produces top 10 offenses like it was normal. Well guess what, the Cougs were 9th in passing this year and with Marquiss and Tuel it should be no different next year.
He coached in Lubbock, Texas which is very similar to Pullman, so he knows the family atmosphere how to bring in talent to small rural towns and how to make constant mediocre teams top 25 teams year in and out.
He has an eccentric personality, which is what a Wazzu needs. Pullman has been dying for some controversy, media coverage and someone who is exciting to follow, Leach is all those.
